17 volunteers built 3/4 miles of amazing trail along the rim of the Grand Mesa through Black Timber, Aspen Stands, Flower Filled Meadows with views of Delta County Valley, West Elk Mountains and San Juan Mountains.
We’ve added another stretch of single track to spectacular Mesa Top Trail on top of Grand Mesa pushing the total length of the single track past 3 mile mark. Read the event report by our crew leader.
Turkey Flats Trail is located 20 miles South-West from Grand Junction in Grand Mesa National Forest. Together with the other sections it makes a lollipop: out-and-back trail with two loops in the middle. The ride can be considered as beginner technical level with several intermediate sections and intermediate aerobic difficulty.
July 16, 2011 was another successful day of trail work at Grand Mesa. The weather cooperated again and although the turnout was modest this time, the crew was able to make good progress. At the end of the day the total length of Mesa Top Trail was over 2 miles.
About two dozen volunteers showed up on July 9, 2011 to participate in the construction of new Mesa Top trail in Grand Mesa National Forest atop of the world’s largest flat-top mountain. Together with the core crew many new trail building enthusiasts have completed more than 1.5 miles of spectacular single track.
