July 16, 2011 was another successful day of trail work at Grand Mesa. The weather cooperated again and although the turnout was modest this time, the crew was able to make good progress. At the end of the day the total length of Mesa Top Trail was about 2 miles. More will be built this week thanks to the Forest Service.

After work volunteers enjoyed meal, refreshments and prizes provided by the sponsors of the event. The date of next trail construction event is to be determined.

For more information visit COPMOBA’s website. Also for short trail description and directions to the trail head check out the post about first day of Mesa Top Trail Construction.

Is the trail farther along now. Is it complete to flowing park? Great job on the work and trail updates. Thanks Copmoba and GOCO.

Yes and No. The Mesa Top Trail has been constructed approximately 3/4 of a mile past the end of the GPS track. There are 2 different loop options available now. But no…no single track trail to Flowing Park yet. Join us on September 17th for another construction event sponsored by REI and we will try to get another mile closer to the Flowing Park trailhead. Should be a great time! Next year the Forest Service plans to build a more formal trailhead for Flowing Park and with enough volunteer support, we may be able to finish Mesa Top and connect to the new trailhead.
